The effect it has on this boy shows how devastating it can be and how it can lead to serious issues such as depression and anxiety disorders. Showing and comparing such a relevant issue to something so simple and ordinary shows how ridiculous it is to discriminate someone based on something that they have no control over. By using a young teen in the advertisement, the campaign clearly shows it is targeting teens in high school. The advertisement has quite a powerful effect on the viewer by showing how discrimination on a daily basis can affect someone. It’s the same for gay, lesbian, bi, trans and intersex people, the things we say and do cause anxiety and depression.” The advertisement ends with the boy overhearing his parents saying “Maybe it’s just a phase.” The narrator reads, “Imagine being made to feel like crap, just for being yourself. The advertisement even shows the boy being grabbed by his classmates in woodwork class and pinned down as one of the boys holds a mallet on his left hand – indicating that he is about to smash it. The teen is being abused and discriminated against by his family, friends and members of his school including his teachers. The main method used to promote this campaign is an advertisement that is shown on TV and in cinemas featuring a young teen who was born left handed. This method is used to prevent people from abusing or discriminating against someone, simply because they were born differently to what is classified as the norm. The message that they are wanting to get across with the campaign is that being someone who doesn't prefer the opposite gender is no different than being born left handed. The campaign they are running for this is promoting anti-discrimination towards Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Intersex people. The first campaign is run in collaboration with the LGBTI communities and Movember Foundation. The first two ‘phases’ they have run in this campaign is dubbed, ‘Is it okay to be left handed?’ and ‘The Invisible Discriminator.’ program which focuses on promoting awareness around discrimination. One of the campaigns that Beyondblue run is the Stop. Beyond blue run multiple campaigns across all different boards to help prevent the issues that can cause people to develop mental health issues. Beyondblue is an organization that was founded in October 2000 to address issues associated with depression, anxiety and other mental health issues.
